UNKLE unkle is the brainchild of james lavelle, the former operator of the legendary and largely defunct mo’wax records. in the early 90’s, mo’ wax established the blueprint for the UK’s abstract hip hop sound and catapulted the careers of dj shadow, dj krush, dr. octagon and blacklicious. lavelle and two of his mates formed unkle and released the classic mo’wax ep, “time has come” in 1994. by 1998, lavelle finally released the popular psyence fiction” lp, this time working with dj shadow and a host of all-star collaborators. furthering unkle’s transformation into a chimera of underground pop music, lavelle teamed up with singer/songwriter tim file for 2003’s “never never land” and the brand new “war stories”. don’t miss this rare live performance.
DOSH you may have seen martin dosh playing drums for andrew bird on the letterman show, or heard his live set in our archives, but until you see this remarkable one man samplin’ band live on stage, your life will never be complete.
