tonite on abstract science: CORNELIUS
tonight we are excited to feature a live performance by japan's cornelius (aka keigo oyamada) and live band, recorded at the metro this january. perhaps the most recognizable of downtown tokyo's shibuya-kei movement, cornelius' avante-electronic-pop has made him a teen idol in japan and his 1997 release on matador, "fantasma", is considered a "creative and commercial breakthrough, a kaleidoscopic, genre-hopping joy ride through contemporary musical history (amg)." his latest release on everloving, "sensuous", has met with similar acclaim, propelled by amazing concert performances like this one. special thanks to the metro and everloving records.
