sound+ notes: born in hamein, germany in 1965, uwe zahn is also known as arovane. as a teenager, he started experimenting with microphones, treated tapes + casio keyboards. eventually moving onto an analogue modular synth with effects + later, a digital synth workstation with digital effects, he also experimented with treated turntables, vinyl + clarinet. he moved to munich in 1989 + joined six and more, a collective of musicians for live electronic improvisations, who performed in germany + released cds on archegon. within a few years, zahn had moved to berlin, set up a studio + began production on the electronic breakbeat style which led to making tracks for radio massive. in 1998, he released his first record as arovane titled "i.o." on torsten pröfrock's [aka T++] label din. his acclaimed album, "tides," was released in 2000 on city centre offices. collaborations with artists such as phonem, christian kleine + jake mandell followed with releases on several labels + performances worldwide. in 2005, one year after releasing "lilies" on city centre offices, zahn announced that he was going to take a break from making music.
